Community Development Assistant /CARE international in Jordan

 CARE International in Jordan has a vacancy for the post of Community Development Assistant:

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of the Community Development Assistant position is to work closely with the Team Supervisor in implementing the assigned project component activities. He/she oversees the proper implementation of the assigned component of the program by the Team Supervisor.  He/she is also responsible for collecting reports of the partners and submit them to the Project officer. The CDA will be responsible for maintaining good relations with project partners.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Job Responsibility #1 Planning, monitoring and reporting:

  • Collects reports and action plans from partners on a monthly basis as per the pre designed templates
  • Reviews, revises the action plans and reports sent by partners and submits a collective Summary to the Project Officer.
  • Assure the implementation of the partners plans in line with donor and CARE requirements
  • Reports to the project Officer on progress including contributing to donor reports where needed
  • Assist the Project Officer, properly documents the achievements and lessons of the project activities and disseminates to partners. 
  • Maintains all relevant project documents in electronic and paper files (reports, contracts, agreements, correspondence, meeting notes, training materials and so on)

Job Responsibility # 2 Implementation of project activities

  • Assist the Project Officer and partners in planning the project activities for which she or he is responsible;
  • Assist the Project Officer to create awareness of the project among beneficiaries and partners and facilitates participation in all stages of the project cycle from problem identifying through implementation and management;
  • Organizes as necessary project activities, events, workshops, training sessions, information materials, and presentations and so on. This includes logistical arrangements, organizing payments and report writing;
  • Document all activities in a timely manner for narrative reports, statistical reports, name lists and photos.
  • Implements all aspects of field activities in line with CARE procedures if the project requires.  This includes; selection of Project participants and writing up the necessary reports recording the selection process; monitoring and reporting on the implementation of activities. 
  • Identifies skills gaps and provide recommendations accordingly to Project Officer on the need of providing training to project partners as required (e.g. project management, reporting, community mobilization and participation, gender mainstreaming, and so on)

Job Responsibility # 3 Ensuring community participation, promoting women’s empowerment, applying CARE standards:

  • Makes sure that project activities are performed in line with CARE standards including key humanitarian standards as set out in the SPHERE and IASC guidelines. 
  • Ensures that gender considerations are taken into account at all stages of the project cycle from design through implementation to evaluation;

Ensures the participation of the community and partners in all stages of the project cycle

Job Responsibility # 4 Coordination, liaison and outreach with project partners and other interested organization:

  • Maintains contacts and effective communication with key partners involved in the project (project partners, other NGOs and agencies, Government departments).
  • Ensures that summaries of meetings, seminars or workshops attended is written, well documented and shared with others;
  • Report on all meetings and develop ways to involve lessons leant or disseminate information to CBO partners.

Responsibility #5: Emergency Response / Staff Security

 

  • Take a lead role in facilitating timely, quality administrative support function delivery in the time of emergency response
  • Supports management on staff security concerns.
  • Promote a safe and secure work environment; foster a safety and security culture; and ensure consistent application of, and compliance with, CARE Jordan safety and security policies and procedures

 

Job Responsibility #5 Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education and training

 

Required:

  • College Diploma

       

     Desired:

  • University Bachelor Degree (Social work and Community Development majors are preferable).

 

  1. Managerial Know How

 

Involves integrating and harmonizing requirements of diverse functions in operating, support, and administrative situations. It may be exercised through consultation as well as direct action; Management requires a combination of planning, organizing, controlling, and reviewing along with direct and indirect execution. Choose one of the following: Task; Minimal; Related; Diverse; Broad.

 

  • This position requires (Task) managerial know-how. 

 

  1. Experience

 

Required:

  • Minimum of six months internship or field practical training, volunteer work experience

 

Desired:

  • At least One year of experience in similar position

 

  1. Technical skills

 

Required:

  • Ability to utilize planning tools and calendars.
  • Anticipating supervisor and team needs in advance and being proactive.
  • Customer orientation and professionalism.
  • Timeliness of accomplishment of duty and observance of deadlines.

 

Desired:

  • Ability to use PeopleSoft systems.
  • Good command in English language.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Travel: This position will be based in Amman, with frequent field visits to Amman, Irbid and Zarqa. Could also include field visits to Mafraq, and may require travelling to CAREs’ Offices or suppliers when there is a need.
  • Safety and Security: CARE’s Safety and Security Officer is available for advice and guidance.
